Oil company Schepers is a twofold bunker company owned by father and son Schepers. Gerard Schepers started the oil business in 1998. His son Rory went to te Technical school and after that to the maritime academy, to get his shipping papers. This way he could follow in to the footsteps of his father to eventually take over the company.

Oil company Schepers established its name in 1998, However, Gerard Schepers has been active in the oil business from 1970. Initially he worked in salaried employment, but in 1998 he was able to take over the business from his former employer and started a company of his own.

With the bunker boat by the name of "RORY and DANA" he worked from the fisherman's port of IJmuiden to provide his customers with all necessary gasoil, lubricating oil, greases, detergents and rags.

In the old days the fishery ships were a part of the regular clientele. However because of the imposed restrictions for catching fish that has been used in the past years, the number of customers decreased. This has not been in favour of the harbour of IJmuiden, because it used to be a beautiful sight to see all those ships in the harbour at the docks unloading their fish.
